9squared, Landing Page Design and Development
Landing Page Design
In the world of mobile media, landing pages are constantly being updated and tweaked based on the latest marketing reports to reflect the most effective design. My role as web designer puts me in the forefront of this undertaking, incorporating feedback from marketing managers and interacting with the programming team to ensure that the pages behave as they should. Working with 9squared has increased my CSS and cross-browser compatibility knowledge exponentially. The short development cycle of landing pages has also allowed me to explore a larger number of graphical styles without overthinking, creating more instinctually. This is a template I developed for 9squared that would allow rapid deployment of artist-driven landing pages for their ringtone subscription service.

Toyota Athlete Program via ECOLLECTIVE, Flash Elements, Navigation, HTML Development
Launch
ECOLLECTIVE contracted me to create a Flash navigation, Flash animations using the motocross photos provided, and building the pages in HTML from the mockups they provided. This project provided interesting subject matter and graphical elements, allowing me to focus on the animation style in regards to Flash and come up with the best possible results for the project.

Qwest PrivatePort via ECOLLECTIVE, Flash Animation
Launch
ECOLLECTIVE handed me the storyboard, some basic art direction, and had me go to town. The result was an animation highlighting key benefits of the PrivatePort system presented quickly and simply, designed to entice potential clients to call their Qwest representative to find out more about it.

Qwest VoIP Services via ECOLLECTIVE, Flash Animation
Launch
In the words of ECOLLECTIVE, "As Qwest expands it's offerings into the IP marketplace, we created an interstitial that dramatizes the opportunities and range of offerings available for business." My role was to take the illustrations, sounds, and storyboard provided and put it together into a fun Flash animation.

Kennedy Real Estate, Website Design/Planning/Development
Launch
Kennedy Real Estate is a luxury realtor in Mendocino, CA. Prior to working with me, KRE had been maintaining two different websites containing different information without giving much thought to how a user would interact with the site. I played the part of project manager, designer, and developer rolled into one. I reorganized both sites into one cohesive site and worked with them to create an intuitive site structure to increase usability and create a more pleasent visitor experience.

Dynamics Research Corporation, Web-Based Training, Promotional Multimedia Materials
During my time with Dynamics Research Corporation, I provided Flash and graphical support to an award-winning team of instructional designers, project managers, web developers, and graphic designers. Responsibilities included creating simple but exciting Flash intros, web graphic design, storyboarding, ActionScripting, and HTML programming.

The following is a video touting the Joint Training Information Management System, or JTIMS, for use in a tradeshow setting. The budget was extremely limited on this project and I was required to create a dynamic video using Flash elements as stock photography was all that was available. Jo Ellen Nash & Company, Flash Tours
Launch
On this project, their idea was to create a Powerpoint slide show of property photos to play on the monitors in their office windows. Unhappy with what the original consulting firm came up with, they approached me seeking my input. Rather than work within the limitations of Powerpoint, I created a Flash slideshow that was capable of playing on its own or through a PHP page that cycled through all the properties automatically. Using Flash opened up a whole new world of animation and design possibilities, resulting in an efficient, tastefully branded piece of work.

Jo Ellen Nash & Company, Realtor.com Banner Ads
Launch
Jo Ellen Nash & Company is a Vail Valley realtor I have been working with as their webmaster since 2003. My initial project was to create eye-catching banners for use on the largest real estate website in the country, Realtor.com. They were spending thousands of dollars per month for ad placement and getting very few clicks due to their ad's static and ineffectual design. I was asked to use my creativity and Flash skills to create an ad that drew the eye instead of blending into the background, while at the same time adhering to Realtor.com's strict animation restrictions. The result was a dynamic ad that Jo Ellen Nash & Company loved both for its innovative design and the dramatic increase in visitor click-throughs.

Kimberly Rohrs, Portfolio CD Rom
Launch
This project showcases my programming abilities nearly as much as my own portfolio site. This cd was sent in conjunction with the standard graduate school applications and, thanks in part to my Flash work, resulted in Ms. Rohrs being accepted to all five graduate schools she applied to. All of the images and text are brought in dynamically from exterior sources, and in the case of the artwork sections, placed by randomly generated coordinates on the screen.

Medical Mutual of Ohio, Banner Ads/Flash Collateral
Launch Banners
Launch Flash Collateral
Medical Mutual of Ohio were in need of banner ads and Flash collateral touting their new products for 2003. These materials were to be used on independent agent sites, as well as high-traffic internet portals, such as Cleveland.com (650,000 unique visitors per month). Synthesizing various existing graphical elements with new images and content, I exceeded their expectations, finishing days ahead of schedule.

McGraw Hill Samples

When a small computer-based training company landed a contract to do an art history cd rom, I was brought in as a pinch developer. My task was to create the skeletal structure and handle difficult programming issues, then lower level programming issues were delegated to less experienced developers. To view my work, select chapter 1-5, then select comprehensive review, then a chapter, then Trivia or Sorting. I created the comprehensive review page which allowed the user to pick what chapters they would like to be tested on, then would randomly choose questions related to that chapter. I created the Trivia game based on the types of games you find in sports bars, but tweaked it a bit to make it more educational. With the Sorting game, I randomly drew from a pool of images, some of which were related to the theme, and the user would have to select the images that did not belong. I also created a back button component that would work in any part of the movie without requiring any code changes. In all cases, all of the information, images, scores, etc., are drawn in or created dynamically from external sources. This project required a lot of flexibility and foresight, as any code I wrote had to be scalable to chapters that had not been put together.
